Dog of God

A storm is coming to the cursed 17th-century village of Zaube—and it’s not just the endless rain. Suspicion, sin, and superstition run rampant when a stolen church relic sets off a chain of paranoia and betrayal. A maid is accused of witchcraft. A boy fears what lurks in the shadows. And into this chaos strides a man who claims to be a werewolf. Not a Hollywood monster, but a mythic “Dog of God,” locked in eternal battle with witches in the underworld.

Inspired by the real-life werewolf trial, DOG OF GOD plunges viewers into a feverish realm where folk horror meets animated psychedelia. The Ābele brothers unleash a visually stunning nightmare using bold rotoscope animation that channels the raw, rebellious spirit of HEAVY METAL and THE SPINE OF NIGHT. Part historical allegory, part trippy descent into madness, this is Latvian animation at its most unhinged and unforgettable.

Werewolves, alchemy, heresy, and the Devil’s Balls—DOG OF GOD is a wild, hallucinatory trip through the darker corners of faith and folklore. Not for the faint of heart.
