Enter the Void

VENUE: Gateway Theater Fort Lauderdale

Dare to enter Gaspar Noé’s mesmerizingly terrifying fever dream ENTER THE VOID, a mindf**k acid-trip that represents a revolutionary break from ordinary movie storytelling a la Stanley Kubrick’s 2001: A SPACE ODYSSEY. Powerful, hypnotic, and utterly transcendent, Noé’s third feature film is a hallucinatory meditation on life, death and rebirth, offering viewers an immersive experience like no other.

As provocative and visionary as one would expect from a Noé feature, ENTER THE VOID pushes the boundaries of hallucinatory cinema with this exploration of sex, drugs, life and death. A brother and sister scratch out a living in Tokyo’s underworld – Oscar’s (Nathaniel Brown) a small-time dealer, Linda (Paz de la Huerta) is an exotic dancer. One night, a police bust goes horribly wrong, and Oscar is shot. But as he lies dying, his spirit enters the astral plane, refusing to leave the world. Instead, it wanders through the city and the neon club scenes of Tokyo after dark, its visions growing ever more distorted and nightmarish.
