The all-time psychodrama shocker returns, newly restored & uncut! Banned upon its original release in 1981, Andrzej Żuławski’s stunningly choreographed nightmare of a marriage unraveling is an experience unlike any other. With its pulsating score, visceral imagery, and some of the most haunting performances ever captured on screen, POSSESSION is cinematic delirium at its most intoxicating.

Like all the best and worst things in life, you always remember your first time: POSSESSION leaves marks, scars, a record of its own existence on your psyche. Seeing POSSESSION for the first time (especially in 4K) is a landmark for any cinephile. Seeing it again and again becomes a kind of deep ritual, an experience that only becomes richer with each revisit!

Professional spy Mark (Sam Neill) returns to his West Berlin home to find his wife Anna (Isabelle Adjani, in a role that earned her Best Actress at Cannes) insistent on a divorce. As Anna’s frenzied behavior becomes ever more alarming, Mark discovers a truth far more sinister than his wildest suspicions. So continues the descent into a nightmarish maze of jealousy, carnality devoid of satisfaction, insanity, terror and murder — where identity and reality are almost impossible to distinguish.
