Take a large serving of The Others and throw in a few pinches of The Village and you’ll wind up with something close to the eerie horror of THE NEST. Suffering from paraplegia, young Samuel has no choice but to obey his domineering mother’s rules, which center around him never stepping foot outside of his family’s isolated mansion. His life unexpectedly perks up once new teenage maid Denise enters the home, but with her arrival also comes Samuel’s exposure to his family’s darkest secrets. Beautifully shot and packed with excellent Gothic production design, Italian director Roberto De Feo’s elegant horror gem impressively marries the old with the new.
